16 Intentions for 2016

How is it possible that 2016 is just days away? 2015 has been a year of many changes and ups and downs.  I didn't even bother to write down resolutions at the beginning of last year because I knew it was going to be nuts!  This year, I am full of hope and excitement about what the year will bring.  We are starting to settle in to our new home and homeschooling, and I feel positive we will get some answers for both Gavin and Macie. I'm writing 16 Intentions to do in 2016!

1. Catch up on the blog (including Disney!)
2. Visit Grams B 2x a Month
3. Finish Daily Dose of Knowledge: Bible with Brian
4. Visit each of Brian's grandparents 2x other than holidays
5. Complete the 12 Months of Family Fun board we gave the kids for Christmas
6. Cross off 35 things from my 101 in 1001 list
7. Follow a strict budget
8. Keep track of all of Gavin's Appointments and Procedures in 2016
9. Work on my weight loss and do something active at least 3x a week
10. Make Disney scrapbooks with the kids
11. Spend 30 minutes each day really playing with the kids
12. Get at least 8 hours of sleep each night
13. Drink at least 64oz of water every day
14. Keep up our new bed time routine (Bible stories, down time, lights out at 8)
15. Get Gavin a wheelchair
16. Visit the Indianapolis Children's Museum 4x by November 30th

Brian has a few intentions as well:
1. Finish Daily Dose of Knowledge: Bible with Abbie
2. Focus on weight loss
3. Get active again
4. Run the Evansville Half Marathon in October

101 in 1001

It is hard to believe that the time is up for my first 101 in 1001.  Overall, I completed 87 things on the list and started 2 others.  I think that is pretty good considering we also did a lot of other AMAZING, crazy, and stressful things that weren't on the list.  When I created the list I had no idea Gavin and I would have on TV, we'd be living in our dream home, and I'd be homeschooling our kids.
That being said, I enjoyed the list so much, that I created a new one.  It took me longer to make this list because I really thought about each item on there.  Even if 1001 days pass and I haven't done everything, I still will view it was a success.  It motivates me to go out and do more and to experience the world with my husband and kids.  At the end of the day, material goods can't be taken with us, but memories can never be taken away!

Gavin's Superhero Genes

Gavin is in need of genetic testing that insurance is refusing to pay for.  After much prayer and thoughtful consideration, Brian and I decided to start a Go Fund Me page to help us with this expense.  Please check it out and SHARE IT!  Thanks and God Bless!

St. Louis Zoo

Last Friday, Brian took off work for John's wedding weekend.  We decided to get up super early and spend the day at the St. Louis Zoo.  We hadn't been in three years and there was a lot we wanted to see.  We got there before the zoo opened and were actually able to get in then.  We headed straight to the sting rays and were first in line to pet them.  The sting rays, children's zoo, and carousel are all free in the first hour and we wanted to take advantage of that!  We were able to do all three and the kids loved it.  Some highlights of this trip were petting stingrays and guinea pigs, brushing goats, the baby orangutan, and seeing the polar bear, penguins, puffins, and new sea lion exhibit.
We only lasted about 4 hours because it warmed up fast and we were all hot!  There was a lot of the zoo that we didn't see to be honest.  We made sure we saw animals we can't always see, like the elephants, and then decided to go try to check into the hotel early.  Lilah wanted to see the giraffes and zebras, but we were able to convince her that swimming at the hotel would be way more fun and we can see those animals at our zoo.  She was sold and our weekend was off to a good start!

Homeschool Highlights

1/4 of the way to the 100 day of School!: Today was actually our 34th day!

Writing Samples:
Yes, the "c" can make the ssss sound, but in this case an "s" would have worked better!

Science ~ Collecting Game: We made predictions of what we might find outside to collect that would fit in our egg cartons.  Then, we each went outside to find our items and talked about it.  We journaled our predictions and outcomes.

Gym Class ~ Yoga: We've been doing Cosmic Kids Yoga once a week for our gym class.  Each video is about a different animal adventure.  The kids LOVE doing it and ask to do it more often.  Andre joined in on the fun this day!

Wesselman's Science Class ~ Spectacular Spiders: This months' topic was spiders and the kids had so much fun learning all about them.  They went on web and moth hunts, made crafts, and saw some real spiders.
