Macie loves...

Macie loves...

  • textures....she is always moving the blanket out of the way to rub her hands in the carpet or grass. She loves to rub on the dogs, people's clothes, mesh, and anything else.
  • to bang things together to make noises. She is always banging blocks, rings, or anything else together...she even bangs toys into her paci when it is in her mouth. That has accounted for a few scratches on the face!!
  • strings...she can see the tiniest string on the carpet and she will go to great lengths to get it and store it in her chubby little cheeks. She also loves to chew on any string that is attached to clothing.

It is so amazing to watch her explore the world and to see things thru her eyes. Everyday she is doing something new!!

Macie's New Shirt

Macie has a new shirt.....
Yep...you read that right...we are expecting #2!!!!! I suspected that I was pregnant for a while before I even told Brian about it. It was confirmed on June 6th when I took a test and it was instantly positive. Based on my last period, I should be due February 10th, but I will have the baby before that because of having a c-section. Macie and the new baby will only be about 15 months apart. I am only 7 1/2 weeks along, but we are telling everyone because I am already showing quite a bit and we can't hide it. People have been teasing me that there might be more than one in there...I go to the doctor on July 15th. I will keep you posted!!
Here I am with the positive test...cute outfit huh?

Do you think my daughter likes Mickey Mouse?

We have talked about before how much Macie likes to watch tv, but she LOVES to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. When it comes on, she gets a big smile on her face and bounces up and down. She even screams out at the tv. It is so cute. I wanted to catch a short video. I am kicking myself though, because I forgot that you can't turn the camera during video taping. I tried to catch her with the camera the other way, but it didn't work, so you will just have to turn your head:)

A Special Treat

Last night, I gave Macie a special treat... a piece of an apple! I'm not even sure what these things are called, but basically it is a mesh holder that you put fruits and veggies into. It is good for teething. Brian and I saw one at the home show before we were married and we thought it was the coolest thing. I'm excited that Macie is big enough to finally use it.
Like most things...she wasn't sure at first...
But it didn't take her long to dig in!

Happy Father's Day (take 2)!

Yesterday was another busy day in the Mitchell household. Brian went to the batting cage before his softball game. We all went to his softball game and then ate lunch at Nick's with my parents and sister. After that, we went swimming at my sister's apartment complex. It was the first time Macie was ever in a big pool like that and she loved it!! We had a great day, but we were exhausted by the time we made it home. Yet another busy weekend that passed by all too quickly!
Happy First Father's Day Brian!!!

A Visit to my Alma Mater

Yesterday,we went to Bloomington to meet our friends, Amy and Doug. We hadn't seen them since our wedding. They had a little boy, Sam, on October 2nd. We were happy to finally get the kiddos together! We had lunch at Lenny's and then walked around campus for a bit before heading back. Bloomington is a half way point for us and we still each had a 2 1/2 hour drive. It was a great day and very nice to take a walk down memory lane. Amy and I were joking that in 18 years we will be coming back to drop off our kiddos for school....scary thought!!
Doug and Sam
The dads with the kids.....Sam wasn't too sure of Macie. Everytime she would would squeal or scream, he would start crying!

Happy Father's Day!! (a little early)

Tonight, we celebrated Father's day in Sturgis. We aren't going to be able to see Brian's dad on Sunday, so we visited tonight instead. I happened to pick up Brian's gift on the way, so I let him open it. I knew that it would mean a lot to his parents to see it. I had Brian's high school football jersey framed for him. He absolutely loved it and was very surprised!! He will either hang it in the office here at home or in his new office at work if he moves into it.

Happy Anniversary Mamaw and Papaw!

Today we headed to Madisonville for Brian's grandparent's 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration. It was a very nice party with yummy food. It was nice for Brian to see people he hadn't seen in years and for me to meet them. Of course, Macie was a big hit. Brian and I are totally ok with the fact that we no longer matter and that Macie is the one they want to see!

8 Months Old!!

Yesterday was Macie's 8 month birthday! Here are some highlights of the last month:
  • Macie finally is rolling over from her back to her belly. She is now rolling all over the place and I can't leave her alone for too long!
  • We were actually able to sit through a whole Mass with Macie!!
  • Macie is always babbling and talking.
  • She studies people before opening up to them unless she knows them well.
  • She has started being able to pick up a few puffs and actually gets some in her mouth!
  • She is napping well and playing on her own more....our little girl gets bigger by the day!
Oooh...

Please Pray for Pops!

My father-in-law is in the hospital and needs your prayers. Last weekend, he was taken to the hospital by ambulance because he thought he was having a heart attack. They said that it was just a severe panic attack and sent him home. They suggested he have a stress test on his heart just to be safe. He had that on Wednesday and they called him yesterday saying there was blockage and he needed a heart cath and if it didn't work, it could possibly lead to open heart surgery. He went to the hospital this morning to meet with the doctor and they ended up admitting him. While he was having various scans and such, they discovered four or five small blood clots in his lungs. They decided that this was the thing to take care of first, so they put him on blood thinner and are keeping him for a couple of days. He will have to come back in about 2 weeks for the heart cath. The doctor told him he was lucky to be alive. Please keep Pops in your prayers!!!

Happy Birthday Grams B!!

Today we celebrated my grandma's 85th birthday by going to lunch at Hacienda and then heading to my aunt's house for cake and ice cream. Grams B's birthday is June 11th. Brian was only able to go to Hacienda for a short time because he had a softball game, but we had a great time!

Grams B will all of her Great-grandchildren: Luke, Kaylee, Macie, Tyler, Tanner and Clayton
Macie had to sit on her lap too!
Isn't this cake adorable? The pictures represent all of the great-grandkids. Can you guess which one is Macie?
Of course we had to have them sing to her at Hacienda!

Party Party

This weekend we have several parties to go to. On Saturday, we started out by going to my cousin's graduation party at Scales Lake. It ended up being a gorgeous day and not too hot. James graduated from Mount Vernon and is heading to Ivy Tech in the fall to become an industrial electrician. He got two scholarships and will have everything paid for. Way to go James! Good luck next year!!
After that, we headed to Reagan's 1st birthday party. Macie had a great time playing with all of the kids and she even got a present! I was telling Brandi what a hard time I was having finding a pair of sandals that fit Macie and she found a pair in the girls room. They are too little for Reagan and too big for Lilly, so Macie is going to borrow them for a while. She also got a goodie bag stuffed full of treats! Thanks Brandi!!
Olivia had so much fun she crashed out while drinking her bottle.
Look at that hair!!

Thank you Grammie!!

Grammie and her friend, Judy, went to yard sales today and bought three bags of clothes and goodies for Macie. She even found her some slippers. How adorable!!! Thanks Grammie for all of the new stuff. We really appreciate it!!

A Very Busy Day

Today, Macie and I had a very busy day! Before 10:00, we went to my eyebrow appointment, Holy Spirit, Barnes and Noble, and pumped gas. Then, we went to visit my cousin, Jamie, and her son, Clayton. It was the first time I got to see her new house and we love to get the kiddos together. After visiting, we went to lunch at Beef O' Brady's. It was such a gorgeous day, we even sat outside. Macie was so good all day even though she didn't nap as well and was tired. I am so glad that she is at a point where she is happy most of time time!

Horseshoes

Every Thursday night during the summer, we head to my aunt and uncle's house for horseshoes. Several of my uncles and other family and friends have a friendly horseshoe competition. They keep track of the wins over a 9 week time span and the winner gets a trophy. Last year was Brian's first year and he ended up in last place. His goal this year is to not be last. We shall see!!
Because tonight was the first night, they had a big fish fry. We had yummy fish, onion rings, hush puppies, and potato wedges. The food was amazing!! Macie could have cared less about anything else that was going on, she was way to interested in the grass. Next week, I won't even bother bringing any toys!
She would pick some, study it, drop it, and then pick some more.
"Look at my leaf!"
When she realized I was taking pictures, she wanted the camera! I had to be sneaky the rest of the time.

Rollin' Around

Now that Macie is able to roll over from her back to her belly, she is all over the place and getting herself into all kinds of predicaments. Somehow, she always ends up under this table. My little girl is on the go and there is no looking back now!!
Mommy....Look at me!!
