Happy Halloween!!

Macie and I had quite a day! First, we went to visit the teachers during DI training for lunch. Then we went with Aunt Annie to vote. After waiting in line for 3 HOURS, we finally were able to vote and head home. Then, Annie and I decided to have a photo shoot with all of Macie's Halloween outfits.
Aunt Annie bought Macie this adorable bib and bag for all of her Halloween goodies. We were amazed with how she laid perfectly still for this picture.

How freaking adorable!!

Is USI in Macie's future?

Macie got a present in the mail yesterday! Because Brian is a USI alumni, Macie got a t-shirt from them welcoming her into the world. Who knows, maybe she will follow in her daddy's footsteps and attend USI someday!

A Future Cougar

Yesterday was a very busy day for Miss Macie. First, I had a quick doctor appointment to check my incision. I got great news in that my incision is healing well and I have lost 20 pounds since having Macie. I was pumped! Then, we headed to Holy Spirit. It was Macie's first visit and the kids were so excited to finally get to see her. But when I walked in my classroom, they were silent. They didn't know what to do or say. That was funny, but I have to say the funniest moment of the day was when a second grader asked me, "Did she come out of the place we don't want to talk about or did she come out of a cut in your belly?" I just about lost it....
This is the best picture of Macie and I to date...too bad she isn't awake!
After they warmed up, my students wanted to touch her and kiss her. They wanted her to stay for the rest of the day.

Oh so curious...

Rusty and Max can't help but be extremely curious about Macie. They constantly want to sniff her and have tried to lick her when she is crying. They have been great with her and she doesn't even seem phased by them or their barking. I am sure that they will have lots of fun times in the future!

More visitors...

Today, Brian's parents come up from Sturgis to visit Macie. It had been a little over a week since they had seen her and they couldn't stand it any more. Shortly after they left, my mom can by with my grandma, her mom. It was the first time she had gotten to see her newest great-granddaugther. My grandma has 13 children, 25 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren plus one on the way. She is a pro and a wealth of knowledge. I was thrilled to see her hold my little one. At Christmas time, she often looks around and says, "I can't believe I started all of this."

Lots of visitors

Macie and I have had lots and lots of visitors since coming home from the hospital. Today, my cousin, Lori, and her daughter, Kaylee, come with my dad's mom (Grams B). Then, my great Aunt Judy and her daughter, Andrea, stopped by. We had a full house and Macie slept through the whole thing. As soon as they left, Macie was wide awake and I took the opportunity to take some pictures.

Scrapbooking

On Tuesday nights, we (Jamie, Brandi, Renee and I) typically get together for dinner and scrapbooking at Jamie's house. This week, we decided to make it all about the kiddos. We got pizza from Greeks and cookies. The older four painted pumpkins. It was a lot of chaos with the 6 kids but lots of fun too. We always have such a good time when we get together!
Brandi and I laid Reagan and Macie down for a picture and the other four (Kyle, Bailey, Keelin and Hannah) swarmed in to see the babies. I don't think that we could have planned it better if we tried!! Macie didn't know what to think at first, but Bailey and Keelin tried to soothe her.

Reagan was just chilling throughout all of the chaos!

Welcome Baby Macie!

My first grade class made a sign and a welcome book for Macie when we were in the hospital. Another teacher brought them to me. The sign is now hanging on Macie's wall. I have a great class and a great sub!

Bailey's 3rd Birthday

Today was a very big day for Macie. We started out by going to Mass and then a quick visit to grandma and grandpa's house. After a short trip to Target, we were off to Bailey's 3rd birthday party. He is my friend, Brandi's, son. We love spending time with Brandi and her two little ones. It was Macie's first birthday party and she even got a goody bag with an adorable Halloween onesie.
Bailey loved the train that we got him. Last year we got him his first train set and now he is obsessed. It was a Thomas the Train birthday!
Bailey loved his Thomas cake. He even blew out the candles before we could sing so he got to do it twice. Bailey was waiting patiently to get a piece of cake.
Hannah just loves babies and was excited to finally meet Macie. I am sure they will be great friends just like their mommys!

Bath Time

Today, Brian and I gave Macie her first bath at home. She didn't like it at all and pooped all in the water. I guess she is breaking us in!

She was so mad!
Warm and cozy....nice and clean
Do I see curly hair in her future?

Macie is finally here!!

Sunday night, Brian and I headed to the hospital for my induction. They took us right into a room and gave me some medicine to prepare me for the induction. After three attempts to get the iv in (I have a big needle phobia by the way) and hooking me up to several monitors, we were well on our way... or so I thought! The next day, they started the pitocin and Brian and I were hopeful that things would progress. They pumped the pitocin up as high as it could go, broke my water and I was contracting every 2-3 minutes but I wasn't dialating. At 4:00pm, I was only 1 1/2 centimeters (when I came in I was 1/2) and Dr. Crutcher walked in and basically said, you can keep trying this or we can talk c-section. I originally didn't want a c-section but I knew there was no way that I could go on like that with no progress. Brian and I said a c-section would be fine and then it was crazy. They prepped me, took us into the surgery room and Macie Lu Mitchell was born at 5:43 pm. She weighed 7 pounds 10 oz and was 20 inches long. Macie got a 9 out of 10 on the Apgar test right away. Dr. Crutcher said that there would have been no way I could have had her vaginally and that we made the right choice. Macie didn't want to come out during the c-section either. They had to put a lot of extra pressure on me and widen the incision just to get her out! I guess she was cozy in there.

The rest of the week was pretty crazy...Lots of visitors and chaos. I am very sore and exhausted, but I was so happy to get to get to go home on Thursday morning around 11:00 am.

The next post has lots of pictures of our beautiful little girl!

The Time is Near...

Well, it looks like time is running out! When, I went to the doctor on Wednesday, we had a bit of a scare because Macie wasn't moving enough during our biophysical profile or the non stress test. They were shaking my stomache and poking me repeatedly. Finally, after more than an hour she started moving. Apparently, she was sleeping. I hope she sleeps that well when she comes out! Dr. Crutcher decided that Macie was out of room and that I should come in on Sunday night at 6:00. We will stay the night, and first thing Monday morning, they will start the induction process. Brian and I are thrilled. We had to take one more belly shot. Next time we post, it will be pictures of our little girl!!
