2000th Post

Yes, you read that right….this is my 2000th post on this blog!  I can’t tell you how glad I am that I started this.  My first post was about being halfway through my pregnancy with Macie.  6 years later, I’ve been able to blog most of our marriage and the kids’ entire lives.  I love looking back at moments in the past and am using this as a scrapbook of sorts (since I’m way behind on that).  It also comes in handy when filling out school paperwork that asks ages your child did things (sit, walk, etc).  I have no intentions of stopping and hope I am able to blog at least 2000 more posts!  Thanks for reading…if there is anyone out there!

Bunk Beds and Room Swap

I’ve been wanting to give Gavin his own room and put the girls in the playroom for a while.  It was just a matter of time.  We also couldn’t figure out what to do about beds.  Grammie and Pops offered us a set of bunk beds they had in their basement that Katie and Beth used.  We were happy to take them.  We also scored a great deal on mattresses and sheets at Big Lots.  We finally have everything set up and the rooms swapped.  The kids love it and they go to sleep much better at night.

4H Fair 2014

Tuesday night, we went to the 4H Fair with Aunt Allie.  Normally, it is $7 to get in per person, but it only cost us $7 for both of us.  The kids were free…score!  We looked at and pet the animals, the kids rode in the barrel train (free just asked for donations to cover the gas), and watched the four wheelers.  It was a hot night, but wasn’t too bad when we were walking around.  It was a lot hotter every time we stopped.  The kids and I got milkshakes and Brian got a tenderloin.  The kids were also excited to get free popcorn, balloon, and sticker.  The last thing we did was let Macie and Gavin climb on a huge piece of farm equipment.  The only animal we didn’t get to pet was the pigs because of the swine show.  Oh well…maybe next year!

These baby cows were born at the fair!

Yummo!

Since we bought all of those apples and peaches, I made two crock pots full of peach applesauce.  It turned out so good, had three ingredients, and is good for us!  I was able to can quite a bit of it and the rest of the peaches for future use.  I also made blackberry breakfast bars and a blueberry peach crumble.  I have to say they were both yummo as well!  Last night, I used a recipe Rachel gave me and made homemade pizza sauce.  We didn’t have enough basil, but the sauce was still amazing and my house smelled so good!  I used it last night and froze a pint.  I will definitely be making more of this because we love to eat pizzas around here!

I wanted to eat the tomatoes and garlic right out of the oven!

Future Architect?

Gavin always says he wants to be a construction site worker when he grows up.  While I am all for telling your children they can do and be anything they want to be, the reality is, that will probably be a difficult job for him with his disability.  However, he loves to build things and we told him maybe he should think about being an architect.  When they spent the weekend at Grammie and Pops’, Grammie sent me a few pictures of their buildings.

St. Theresa Summer Social

Every year, we try to visit the St. Theresa Summer Social because I went to school there and my mom still goes to church there.  This year, we had beautiful weather and lots of fun.  We ate, the kids rode rides, and we took our chance on the Luck of the Draw and cake wheel.  We didn’t win a cake, but the kids got a beanie baby animal just for playing.  Grandpa was kind enough to get the kids bracelets this year, and they were able to ride 10 rides!  They had so much fun and Lilah loved the bounce house!  Gavin liked the “fish ride” and Macie liked a ride that spun them around.  We didn’t play games since we spent so much time riding rides.  We did, however, pick up a few sweet treats on the way out!
