Play Study

On Tuesday, July 30th, Gavin ended up getting an extra day with me.  We worked in my classroom that morning and then came home for the second session in his play study.

His PT at Easter Sills asked if I would be willing to have him participate in a play study.  Basically, they are wanted children with physical disabilities to see if that effected their imaginary play.  They needed children between 18 months and 5 years 11 months.  The first day she just did a language assessment and asked me to fill out a questionnaire about the toys we have in the home.  The second time, she brought a box of objects and asked him what he could do with them.  At first, he was a little shy and didn’t answer much.  Then, he was talking up a storm!  At the end of the test, she said that even though she hadn’t officially scored it, he topped out of the test!

As a reward, she gave him a $10 gift card to Target!  I took him there after nap and he picked out a microphone, water balloon set, bugles, and fruit snacks.  Because I took him to the dollar section, he still has money left on the card!  He was so excited to pay the lady all by himself!

School Supplies

On Monday, July 29th, I took all three kids school supply shopping by myself!  Brave…crazy….you decide!  Our week last week was nuts and Brian worked late almost every single night.  We also had a death in the family, so we were insanely busy with no free time.  It was the only time I had to do it.  We went to Wal-Mart before 8am and even though it was busy and wacky, we were able to get everything and not totally lose my sanity!  After spending $50, including some candy as a reward, we headed home and stayed there.  I was wiped!

“Gingerbread” House

On Sunday, July 28th, Brian and I had a meeting in Louisville and Cincinnati for Marriage Encounter.  The kids spent the whole day with Grandma and Grandpa.  Somehow, Macie talked Grandpa into making this “Gingerbread” house for her.  I have to say, he did an awesome job!  It has a door, windows, and fireplace!  We are supposed to be adding more details, but we haven’t gotten around to that yet!

Boonville Splash Park

On Friday, July 26th, we went to the splash park in Boonville.  We met Jamie, Clayton, Hollis, Aunt Alice, and Kaylee.  The kids had a great time and the weather was perfect!  We even had an umbrella to put our stuff under and enjoyed a snack in the shade!
