Terrible Twos or Luck of the Draw?

001

Last week, we had two more snow bitter cold days off from school.  I was not happy about missing again, but I think we won’t have to make these up.  If so, I will be super happy!  Lilah, aka LJ, stinker, and little rascal, was a holy terror on Monday.  She’s been acting out more and more and WOW do we have our hands full with this one.  She is either attached to my hip or into some kind of mischief.  The toilet and trash are two of her favorite hot spots.  She also likes to take things away from Macie and Gavin and then take off running or finding an abandoned marker to use on her face (like picture above).  Unfortunately, she has also started biting Gavin (not saying he never does anything to her, but it is still not OK).

She can be the sweetest little thing and gives the best hugs and kisses, often because she’s just done something wrong.  I love her to the moon and back.  However, I’ve started to wonder if this is just a bad case of the terrible twos or if we were lucky enough to be blessed with a spitfire!!

Project Time

The kids got a bunch of projects for Christmas and they’ve been bugging us to work on them.  Tonight after dinner, Brian and Gavin started his fire truck Lego project and I helped Macie do a few of her projects from Aunt Allie.  I tried to keep Lilah busy with some beads, but wow is she the spitfire of the bunch!

Date Night and Cleaning House

Saturday night, Brian and I had our January Date Night.  We pulled out something that didn’t require us to leave the house and was free!  Brian and I have a random list of movies.  When we get a movie from the library, if there is a preview we like we write it down.  So, he went to the library and picked out “New Year’s Eve”.  I made sure all of the kids were good and asleep while he set it up.  He laid out some pjs for me, a piece of chocolate, and some wine.  The movie was cute and it was nice to just cuddle in bed and spend time together.

Today, we worked on cleaning house.  We packed up all of the Christmas stuff and deep cleaned the living room, hall, and hall closet.  I mean we wiped down doors, windows, cleaned out the book shelf, etc.  It is by no means perfect, but it feels good to have one area of the house really clean!  If people come over, I just won’t let them out of the living room..ha ha!  Now, we just plan to keep the rest of the house picked up and focus on a different area next month.

Family Choice Dinner

On Saturday, we ate our Family Choice Dinner Lunch.  We each drew a part of the meal (appetizer, entrée, side, side, dessert).  We went to Aldi and picked what we wanted on Friday night.  Then, we prepared it Saturday.  It was fun, the kids enjoyed it, and it is something I hope we can do again in the future!
Menu: Appetizer (Lilah): Easy Cheese on crackers, Entrée (Gavin): Safari Chicken Nuggets, Side (Daddy): Shells and Cheese, Side (Mommy): Garlic Bread, Dessert (Macie): Popsicles
