Out with the old, in with the new to us!

On Saturday, we were supposed to do the Race for the Cure.  With all of the kids being sick, we decided it would be best to stay home.  I was bummed, but didn’t want Macie to start throwing up everywhere.  I got some motivation and started cleaning house.  Over the weekend, I got a lot of house cleaning done and catching up.  We had been barely surviving for weeks!

We also got some things from my grandma’s house.  Our couch was super nasty and our microwave was really old and barely working.  We were able to get one of my grandma’s couches and plan to get the other one once her house sells.  I wouldn’t have picked out the pattern, but it is in great shape!  We also got a new microwave and several other things from the house.  It felt really weird to walk about and pick out things.  I got some neat table cloths and other kitchen items.  I also got a box full of stuff to use in my classroom.

I will always treasure these items even though I know they don’t replace my grandma.  The couches were always coveted spots on Christmas Eve and I look forward to using the football table cloth when we have people over for a Colt’s game!

Lilah Funnies

Lilah is talking more and more.  I love her cute little voice and how she scrunches up that face and puckers the lips.  Here are a few funny Lilah moments…

When we went back to the pharmacy to get Lilah’s medicine Friday night, Macie was getting really cranky.  I started singing “Zippedee doo dah..”  Lilah, as serious as can be, said, “noying”  I said, “Did you say that I was annoying?”  She said, “yeah”.  My 21 month old is already annoyed by me.  I thought it was hilarious.

At church, I kept saying, “shhh Lilah”.  I responded “Lord hear our prayer” at Mass, and she looked at me and said, “shhhh mama!”

What a stink!

Are you kidding me??

Thursday afternoon, I got a phone call that Gavin was breathing “funny” and not feeling well.  I rushed over to preschool and I could tell that Gavin wasn’t feeling well.  He had spiked a fever, was out of it, and I could hear a slight wheeze.  I got both kids together and went back to school to get my stuff.  I called Dr. Voyles’ office and they were able to get him in with Dr. Schapker.  He did a strep test, but it was negative.  Because of Gavin’s history, he started him on steroids and sent us on our way.

Friday, Gavin and Lilah went to Grammie and Pops’ house.  Gavin was so upset because he was going to miss the fire truck and firefighter visit at school.  Macie said that because Gavin was going to miss, she wanted to miss, too.  That little girl can be a stink, but she can also be so sweet!  That afternoon, Lilah woke up with a temp and saying her ears hurt.  Brian left work to pick her up and met me back at his work.  I dropped off the kids at my parents and took Lilah to Convenient Care.  Sure enough, she had a double ear infection.  By the time I picked up the kids, went home, went back out to get Lilah’s meds and got home again to put the kids in bed, it was after 8.

That night, Macie woke up throwing up.  Thankfully, she only threw up that one time, but was kind of puny all day Saturday.  Three kids…three days…three different illnesses.  Are you kidding me??  Thanks to all of the grandparents who helped us survive these stressful days!

Macie’s Reward ~ Mall

Macie earned her second reward and chose to go to the mall to play.  We were only there a few minutes when they needed us to leave to clean it.  We got a free pretzel and walked around for a while.  Then, we went back to the playground and had the place to ourselves!  I’m loving all of this quality time with my babies!
