Dear Macie

Dear Macie,

Girlfriend…where do I even begin?  I seriously can’t believe you are 6 years old!  I had a minor meltdown about that being a third of the way to 18, but we won’t even go there.  You are such a smart and beautiful little girl.  You handled the transition to Kindergarten a lot better than I thought and are doing great being across the hall from me.  Your reading, writing, and math skills are taking off.  You pick up random books and start reading them with little to no help.  You are always counting or asking me to give you a math problem.  You love art projects, games and puzzles.  You love to be outside on your favorite swing.  You’ve started playing soccer and have learned so much.  I’m having a lot of fun helping with your Daisy troop.  You are getting so tall you will pass me up before I know it!

I am so blessed to be your Mom, Mama, and Mommy!  Always remember, you are smart, kind, important, and beautiful.  I love you to the moon and back!

Macie got rain boots from Aunt Katie for her birthday, my students made Lilah some artwork, and Macie’s writing is taking off!

A New New Job

So…Brian was working at Brenntag…and then he got a job at SS&C.  We were excited for the change of pace.  Turns out, he worked a ton and traveled a lot in the first few weeks of working there.  He was going to stick it out, BUT, got a call from St. Vincent’s Center for Families and Children.  That was the job he wanted all along.  After an interview and meeting the CFO one Saturday evening, HE GOT THE JOB!  He is now the Business Operations Director.  This a big step up in both pay and responsibility.  He has several people under him.  He feels like this is his dream job and I’ve never seen him happier.  Every day he is in a much better mood when he comes home from work, the hours are great and there is NO TRAVEL!  I am so proud of him and happy for him.  His first day of work was on Macie’s birthday.  Here’s to a new chapter…

Macie’s Birthday Dinner

After school, we hung out at Grandma and Grandpa’s house until it was time to go eat.  Macie was deciding between Acapulco and McDonalds.  Thankfully, she picked Acapulco.  She remembered that you could sit outside, feed the ducks, play on the playground, and get the cherry from the top of the dessert.  Thankfully, we were able to do all of those things despite the rainstorm.  She ordered a pancake meal (at a Mexican restaurant).  We told them it was her birthday, so they came out and sang to her.  They put a big sombrero on her head and then started smearing whipped cream all over her face.  It was really cute and funny, but I wasn’t sure how she would handle it.  Thankfully, she was a good sport.  It is safe to say that Macie had a wonderful 6th birthday!  She is already talking about her next one.  Slow down baby, slow down!
