$125 Monthly Grocery Budget for a Family of 5...Say What!?!? ~ The Other C

After making sure you have your cash and calculator, the next thing to consider is THE OTHER C: COUPONS.

A few years back, my husband and I were major couponers.  We'd save a ton of money, get free items, briefly started a coupon club, and even made money on some of our purchases.  Then, the extreme couponing shows started on TLC.  Coupons became harder to get a hold of and everyone thought they could be a couponer.

That, coupled with the fact that we were continuing to have kids and had less time, meant that we started using less and less coupons.  We still do use coupons if we find a good one, but do not use them as often.  Another reason we stopped using them is that Aldi doesn't accept (or need) coupons.  Occasionally, they will run a special $10 off a $50 purchase or something, but that is rare.

Besides coupons, ADS are a good place to look.  They often have great deals that do not require a coupon.  I look at the Aldi ad to see what produce will be featured that week and plan to stock up on it if I can.  Other local stores will run 10 for $10 or even get an 11th item free deals that we may take advantage of.

If you've been following this series, you may have noticed that all of the posts have been about things I did and still do before I even step foot in the grocery store.  Proper prepping and planning is key to a tight grocery budget.

Next up...what the heck did I buy?

Do you use coupons?
