Cotton Candy
Last night Brian and I went on a date...like completely by ourselves, without kids...to the Fall Festival. It was nice to just be the two of us. I can't even tell you the last time that happened besides grocery shopping or running errands. We had a nice time, despite the crowds, and ate plenty. Allie was kind enough to come and stay with the kids. We brought her back some mounds fudge that was amazing as a thank you. I also picked up some cotton candy for the kids. They've never had it before. Tonight after dinner, I gave them each a hunk. They weren't quite sure what to do with it at first, but soon went to town. Gavin kept saying, "pink, pink". That kid amazes me all of the time! Macie said, "I like pink. It's my favorite color". Needless to say, the cotton candy was a hit. What's not to love about a cloud of sugar!

An Early Birthday Present
Grammie and Pops came for a visit on Sunday. They brought a garbage bag full of clothes for Macie (which she desperately needed), a sleeping bag for Gavin, and some new toys. They went yardsaling the day before and hit the jackpot. They were able to watch Brian play softball and we all went to dinner at Mr. B's. Besides the fact that I didn't get my food until they packed it up in a to go box, we had a great day.
In between the softball game and Mr. B's, Aunt Beth and Parker stopped by. They were going to eat with us and they wanted to bring Macie's birthday present by. Beth is in a wedding next Saturday and won't be able to make it to Macie's party. Macie got two new adorable outfits. Thanks and we will miss you next week!

Getting Ready for Lilah

What in the world?!?
First let me say that just yesterday at lunch, I was talking with a few of my teacher friends about potty training. I said that there was no way Gavin was ready for it, but that he loved to be involved when Macie did. I didn't (and still don't really) plan to start potty training until next summer at the earliest.
Every day, Gavin is obsessed with closing the toilet lid and flushing the toilet. He sees us do that with Macie all of the time, so that didn't surprise me. Well, lately, he has been saying "pee" and "poop" when pointing to the potty. I always tell him that's what we do in there, but I don't think much of it. This morning, I woke up to cheering because Gavin had peed in the potty. Yes, my 20 month old little boy peed in the potty this morning! Evidently he kept telling Brian "pee" and pointing to the potty. Brian thought, why not, and sat him on there. Sure enough, he peed!
Then, today at lunch, Gavin started shaking. I asked him what was wrong and he said, "poop". He had just pooped and wanted me to change his diaper. Now, I'm not naive to think that this means I should start potty training hard core with him, but if he keeps up the interest, we will let him keep trying.
Gavin was so proud of himself and was grinning from ear to ear. We even had to visit Grandma and Grandpa to tell them the good news!
Gavin has been known to do things developmentally out of order. In fact, just about everything with him has been out of order, so we shall see!
