Co-Pays

When you think about co-pays for doctor appointments, think about this….

We’ve spent around $550 this year, in the first three months, on co-pays alone.  That’s just the initial seeing the doctor or going to therapy….not the costs for procedures, etc!

Also, ours went up by $5 a visit.  So for most people, that wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but for us, we would have already saved over $100 this year.

Let’s hope this trend doesn’t keep up….although I don’t see an end in sight!

Voodoo Hex?

Ok…so I’m beginning to wonder if we have some sort of voodoo hex on us or something!  Wednesday morning, Macie was whining and saying her ear hurt.  She didn’t have fever, so we took her to school.  I told her I would call Dr. Voyles to get her checked out after school and gave her some tylenol to help with the pain.  I checked on her at lunch and she looked tired, but didn’t really feel warm and they said she hadn’t complained all morning.  I was happy, but very shortly got a phone call saying that she had a temp of 102 and it was still going up.  I arranged for coverage for my class and picked Macie and Gavin up.  They napped and then I took her to Dr. Voyles.  Thankfully, my dad kept Gavin and Lilah because this is where it got scary.

By the time we got to the office, her fever was 1o4.2!  Her eyes were bloodshot, and was crying and kind of weird.  The nurse was worried too and put cold rags on her head and neck.  She didn’t want Dr. V or anyone else to touch her and was kind of a mess.  Thankfully, it was just a bad ear infection in the left ear. They gave her medicine in the office to help with the fever.  Once that kicked in and the antibiotic, she started bouncing back.  Thankfully, Grammie and Pops kept her for us on Thursday so we could work.  I’m all out of days after Gavin’s stuff on Monday.

Yesterday, Lilah started throwing up at daycare.  I was able to leave a little after 2, but thankfully it was my plan period.  We had a lovely evening dealing with all of that.  I’m just praying no one else gets it!

Today I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned some more.  Germs…get out!

Last Name and Shoe Tying

Macie couldn’t wait to go back to school after Spring Break because she was going to do two things: write her first and last name when checking in each morning and learn to tie her shoes.  Well, she knew how to write and spell her last name and did it so well, that she got to keep the sign in sheet for the day!  I was proud of her and it was pretty neatly written, too!

She was also convinced that they would learn how to tie her shoes that first day and she would learn it in one day.  Well, they didn’t get to it until Tuesday.  That night, she practiced on her board during Gavin’s therapy and all night at home.  She got it!  The next morning, she tied her shoes all by herself.  On Thursday, Grammie taught her to double knot!  It takes a bit, and they aren’t the tightest, but the girl is tying her own shoes.  I am SUPER proud of her!  Now…if we can just get her to put her shoes on the right feet!

April Fools

Miss Nina told Macie and Gavin all about April Fool’s Day on Monday, so they were ready to go.  They were plotting their tricks the night before.  It was so cute the next day watching them pull “fast ones” on us.  Mostly, Brian and I just pretended to be fooled, but a few times, they actually got us!

My class was also all about the pranks and two of my students wrote me detentions and left them on my desk!
