Science Fun

The kids (especially Gavin) have been so excited about science.  We are starting out the year doing experiments and recording them in our science journals.  Last week, we went over some lab rules and hung charts to record vocabulary words and lab materials we use.  Today was our first actual experiment.  First, we suited up (old t-shirts and eye goggles) and then followed the steps to make "Instant Goo".  It's so much fun to see how excited they are!

Home Tour ~ Great Room

Our living room/dining room is an awesome space!  The room is 15x26.  It has a lot of windows and a brick wall that I love.  We went with a blue/gray paint color and it works really well.  All of the furniture except the wicker sofa table was given to us.  The hutch was my dad's mom's, the kitchen table was from my dad's bosses' daughter and the credenza was given to us by my parents.  The couch, loveseat, coffee table, chair, and armoire were all from my Aunt Judy.  The lamps were wedding gifts.  Debbie made slip covers for the couch pillows to pull everything together.  It's amazing how it all works!  Another thing I like is that the whole bottom level has no carpet so spills and messes are easier to handle!

Home Tour ~ Bathrooms and Hallways

I was really excited that this house had a full bath on both levels.  That makes a huge difference and when we are old and decrepit, it will really come in handy!

Upstairs Bath: This little room had a LOT of work done to it.  My sweet aunts spent hours removing the wall paper on one wall, we replaced the light fixture that was literally exploding, and painted the room.  I love the color and how it turned out!

 Upstairs Hall

Downstairs Hallway: My favorite wall in the whole house!

Downstairs Bathroom: I haven't really touched this room.  I wanted to paint it the same brown as upstairs, and still might, but haven't gotten there yet.  The paint isn't too bad.  I like that the toilet and shower are separate from the sink and closet because it makes the space more functional.  The weird thing is, they took the mirror!  Eventually, we will put one up.

Home Tour ~ Master Bedroom

I love our master bedroom!  We used the same color that we had at our old house.  Our bedroom furniture is the most expensive furniture that we purchased right before we got married.  Our bed spread, lamps on our nightstands, and mattress set were bought with wedding money.  My vanity belonged to my great-great-?-grandmother on my dad's side.  The chair was given to us by my aunt and the huge box tv was a college graduation present.  I love the double closets and all of the little momentos around that room that have special meaning!
