Thursday, August 8th was the first day of school. Macie is a butterfly this year (Pre K) and Gavin is a caterpillar (Preschool/3). We talked about school for days before and Gavin was really quiet about it. On Thursday morning, Macie was bouncing around the house and couldn’t wait to go to school. Gavin, on the other hand, announced that he didn’t want to go to school anymore. He told us he was nervous and scared. I talked to him and said “Just like when you go to meet a new doctor or therapist, you will be fine and love school.” Then, he said, “But mama, that’s not scary!” That is so normal for him, it isn’t scary. We finally talked him into going and he was so cute. He was shaking and awkward, but adorable at the same time.
Brian and Lilah were able to meet us and of course I took a lot of pictures. The stressful part for me, is that it’s my first day of school, too! I have 24 first graders this year and they are keeping me busy! I couldn’t wait to visit the kids at lunch and see how they were doing. They were both excited and doing great. We all had a great first day of school and the kids love going. They are growing up so fast! Here’s to a great year!
