Tricks of the Trade

My last Rite Aid deal post got more comments than any post I've written! Everyone wants to know how we do it. Well, it is a little too complicated to type everything out, but I'll give you a quick run down. Basically, Brian combines ad prices, coupons, and store rewards to get items for little to nothing. There are several websites that lay out all of the deals and you can pick and choose which deals will work for you. We try to get things that we need or will use, but that doesn't always work. One of the ways to earn more store rewards is by buying things that are odd or embarrassing (like Depends or KY that can be donated). An example might be: Toothpaste is on sale for $3 and you have a coupon for $3 off of one of the toothpastes. Plus, the toothpaste is featured in the ad as an item that gives rewards back so you get $1 on your card. That dollar can be applied towards your future purchase and you use it on items that get rewards and it cycles over and over. Not every item gives you rewards. It does take some prep work, but IT DOES WORK! I was very leery of the whole process and felt very strongly that we didn't spend much money out of pocket. We spend very little. All I know is, our cabinets are stocked more than ever and we are spending A LOT less money on grocery and personal care items.
Tonight, Brian got another killer deal. He had a bonus $20 on his card so he was able to get the following for less than a dollar out of pocket:

• 2 - 24 count Pull Ups
• 1 - 26 count Pull Ups
• 1 - 26 count Huggies Diapers Size 4
• 2 - K Y
• 1 - Heinz Ketchup 32 oz
• 2 - Kraft Easy Mac Bowls
• 1 - Trident Gum
• 1 - Finish Quantumatic Dishwasher Detergent Dispenser System

Regular Rite Aid Shelf Total: $75.49

Our out of pocket expense: 79 cents!

That is almost a 99% savings!!!!!
