Check Ups

Both kids had an appointment with Dr. Voyles today. I made Brian come with me to witness first hand how big of a challenge it can be to take two small children to the doctor. He had no idea how I could've done that alone in the past! The highlight of the day....NO SHOTS!

Macie 2 Year Check Up
Weight: 27 pounds 4.5 ounces (6oth percentile)
Length: 34 1/4 inches (64th percentile)
Dr. Voyles was very impressed with her vocabulary and said that she is doing very well. Our only concern with her is that she sometimes has a problem with her left arm. We will be in the middle of playing and she will start crying and holding her arm. It never lasts for long, but it has happened several times. Dr. Voyles said that her elbow could actually be popping out of place. We are just supposed to keep an eye on it and if she ever doesn't use her arm for an extended period of time (24 hours) call him immediately. Her next appointment isn't until she is 3 so we didn't even schedule it today because we will be back a few times with Gavin. No shots until 4!

Gavin 9 Month Check Up
Weight: 20 pounds
Length: 27 3/4 inches
(I get the percentiles confused but he was only at 35th and 43rd percentile which shocked me because he isn't nearly as big as he used to be. It's almost as if his growth has slowed down tremendously!)
Gavin is also doing well and talking up a storm. His birthmarks haven't changed much since our last visit. We have our next appointment in Indy in December. Our big concern with Gavin is that he doesn't put any pressure on his legs. He is doing a lot of other things (rolling over, etc) but if you hold him up he tucks his legs in. I hate to compare the kids, but Macie was pulling up by now. Dr. Voyles said that it could be nothing, but he is going to recommend that he sees a physical therapist for a consult. He put in the referral and we should hear something from First Steps by the end of the week. They will actually come to our house to do the evaluation. I'm hoping it's nothing, but I'd much rather be safe than sorry! His next appointment is on his first birthday. Brian scheduled it, but I may change it because who wants to get shots on their birthday?!?

Holy Cow...won't be long until Gavin catches up with Clayton, Clayton still just weighs 23 lbs! Good to hear both kiddos are doing great :)
