24 Hour Date

On Sunday, April 21st, we got up, went to church, and then took the kids to Sturgis for the night.  Brian and I were able to go on a 24 hour date!  It had been MONTHS since we’d been on an actual date.  All of our alone time had been for something in particular (grocery shopping, wedding, housework), so we decided to devote 24 hours to nothing but hanging out together.

Originally, we wanted to go somewhere out of town, but decided that wasn’t in the budget.  The deal was we stay at home, but don’t do any work around the house.  And, we made the date FREE!  The only cost was the gas.

As soon as we got back into town, we took a hike in the woods around Angel Mounds.  It was a little muddy, but we had fun and even saw some deer and a turtle!  Then, we went home for a nap!

Once we woke up, we made dinner (shrimp, mushrooms, and couscous) and then headed to the movies.  We had a gift card and were able to see Parental Guidance.  It was a cute movie and we ate way too much popcorn!  When we got home, we took some blankets outside and laid under the stars.  It was just so quiet and relaxing!

The next morning, we got up and headed straight to the gym.  I’d never been to Planet Fitness and wanted to see what it was all about.  It is a really nice gym and we had a good workout.  Then we went home to shower.

After showers, we went to the bank (the only non date related thing) and then to Winestyles.  I had some gift cards I’d never used.  We picked out a bottle and then went next door to Panera.  We shared some treats there, once again using a gift card.  Our final stop was Fire House Subs.  We had just a little left on a gift card there and shared a kids meal.  Between both places, we were able to have plenty to eat!

Finally, we headed to Sturgis to pick up the kids.  Brian and I loved our time together, but we also loved picking up the kids!  Hopefully, it won’t be months before we go on a date again!
