Gavin at 18 Months

The Dude has been 18 Months for a few days now and I'm still in shock! My little guy has grown up SOOO much in the last few months. Here are some of the things he is up to:

  • Gavin can walk everywhere and is starting to climb some. It is crazy how much him walking helps me. Not carrying him everywhere is a definite bonus. When we get home, I can get him out of the van and he will walk in by himself. He will even climb up the steps. This will come in handy when the baby comes. Gavin is willing to climb anything his little legs will allow.

  • His vocabulary has increased tremendously! I couldn't even give you an exact number of words he can say. Even though he is a relatively quiet kid, he still has a lot to say. He still has developmental therapy once a week. He is now pointing at things, sticking his tongue out, and waving. These are huge milestones for him.

  • Gavin LOVES to eat, but he is basically a meat, potato, bread, and cheese kind of guy. Of course he likes some fruits and loves junk, but veggies can be a struggle. Dr. V said to not make it a battle, but keep offering and give him a vitamin. Gavin has also started feeding himself with a fork and spoon. He is doing pretty well with it.

  • Gavin is down to taking one 2-3 hour nap a day. Occasionally, he will take a short nap before dinner, but that is happening less and less. He still goes to bed at 7 and falls asleep very easily and doesn't wake up until 6 or so. His bed is full of stuffed animals and blankets. Every night he cuddles with Elmo and Clifford.

  • He is still a very sweet kid and loves to give me LOTS of kisses. Every morning after Brian gets him up, he comes to find me with a big smile on his face to give me a kiss for the day. He still isn't super cuddly, but he is definitely a Mama's boy. I get the best greeting when I pick him up from daycare every day!

  • He loves to play with legos and dress up clothes. He plays with other toys as well, but those are his favorites!

  • Gavin has the stinkiest feet, but he is such a wonderful member of our family!
