An Only Child

Last Monday morning, we got an early morning text from our daycare lady saying that she was sick and unable to watch Gavin and Lilah.  After a slight panic, we called Grammie and she agreed to keep the kids.  Brian rushed to get a shower and I quickly packed their bag.  We decided to have them spend the night just in case Miss Julie couldn’t watch the kids on Tuesday either.  Gavin and Lilah had a great time playing with the other kids Grammie keeps and spending some time with Grammie and Pops.  Thanks Grammie for coming to the rescue!
Because Macie was our only child (and she wasn’t all that thrilled about missing out), we decided to make her time with us special.  I told her that if we got a good report from school, we would make her jewelry when she got home from school and go to Cici’s for dinner.  That was her pick and she even called Aunt Allie to invite her.  Thankfully, Macie was good and we were able to do all of the fun things.  She had gotten the jewelry kit for Christmas and this was the first chance we had to do it without distractions!  We even went to visit Great-Grandma Wolf after dinner.  When we got home, we let Macie cuddle with us on the couch for a big before she fell asleep.
Macie hasn’t been our “only child” for quite some time now.  She is definitely our most emotional and needy child, so I know she really loved this time with us.  Brian and I were spoiled, too!  I forget how easy it is with only one…especially one that is potty trained!!

She made this beautiful necklace for Aunt Allie and gave it to her at dinner!
