Day 1 Craziness

Gavin and I got into our room around 12:20. Then, the craziness began... First, we found out that because I hadn't been given a beta strep screening, Gavin needed some extra blood work done. They told us that my parents could visit with him for a bit and then he would head to the nursery around 1. They gave him a bath, did the blood work, and brought him back an hour later. He just got back in the room and the nurse came in to check his vitals. His body temp was a little low and before we knew it they were taking him again to the nursery to warm him up. While in the nursery, they noticed that his breathing was a little raspy, so they started checking it out. His pulse oxygen levels were 100% and everything checked out fine. Brian was able to go get him and we thought everything was fine. The nurse continued to be concerned so they called Dr. Voyles and he ordered a chest x-ray to make sure everything was OK. Once again, our little guy had to leave us until we found out the results. Luckily, everything checked out fine and he was able to come back in our room and be with us the rest of the night. I didn't hardly sleep at all because everyone kept checking on me or Gavin, but it was a good first night!
Because the hospital has visitor restrictions due to the H1N1 "epidemic", our visitors were spaced out throughout the day. This did make everything calmer considering the hectic start we had. Grandma, Grandpa, Allie, Grammie, Pops, John, Kenny, Rachel and Eric all came by to see our sweetie.
