Louisville Zoo

Sunday, July 3rd, we went to the Louisville Zoo with Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Allie. We knew it was going to be hot and there was a threat of rain, but we went anyway. Luckily, it never rained and it didn't get unbearably hot. We'd never been to this zoo before and had been wanting to check it out. Now that we have zoo passes, we got in for free so that made it even better! Unfortunately, Gavin threw up several times at the zoo and went through three outfits. It was mostly water, but I felt so badly for him. He never had a fever and was such a trooper through the whole thing. He barely even fussed! I think he still enjoyed seeing all of the animals despite everything. Macie had an absolute blast! She walked (or ran) the whole zoo and loved seeing all of the animals. The Louisville zoo is very nice and has a lot of animals we don't always get to see. We saw elephants doing tricks, a polar bear "fishing", and a baby giraffe. My mom also bought Macie a key that you put in machines throughout the zoo and it would sing a song about that animal. It was well worth the $4 and Macie became a pro at finding them. She even got to bring it home. The other major highlight was the splash park. Gavin wasn't feeling well enough to get in the water, but Macie had the time of her life! She was a wild woman and even got Mommy in the water. She wanted to go down the slide so badly, but wasn't quite old enough to understand waiting in line. I finally just got in there with her and we went down the slide. I have to say it felt good and helped me cool off. We ended the day eating ice cream and seeing the last few animals. Both kids were asleep before we even left the parking lot! Luckily, Gavin didn't get sick on the way home. We decided not to go out to eat with my family and go straight home since Gavin wasn't feeling well. We will definitely be going back. Hopefully Gavin will be feeling better next time!

Poor Gavin!

The baby giraffe was born in January. Too precious!

Checking out the elephant show

Gavin was happy to pet the goat (even though he wouldn't open his hand). Macie on the other hand wouldn't get too close!

This gorilla was so funny! He came up and posed right in front of Gavin. He kept staring at the kids.

Cool Dude just Chillin'!

We go to the Louisville Zoo almost every time we visit my in laws. It's so nice that you can get in for half price with your Mesker Park zoo pass!
