St. Louis Trip

Sunday morning we got up super early and headed to St. Louis for a little get-a-way.  Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Allie went with us.  We've been talking about doing an overnight in St. Louis with them for years and we finally got around to it.  Brian and I have been to St. Louis every year we've been together, but we had to miss last summer due to finances.  The trip there went pretty smoothly and the kids were so well behaved.  Everything went well until we got to the zoo.  Parking was an issue because we saw several signs saying the parking lot was full.  There were a few events happening in Forest Park and it was confusing and stressful to figure out where to go.  Once we found a place to park, we had to find the trolley that would take us to the zoo.
The zoo was more crowded than I've ever seen before!  I guess the beautiful weather and other events drew in a crowd.  We still had a great day!  We got bracelets that allowed us to go in the Children's zoo, ride the Carousel, and ride on a train!  Macie has been getting a lot braver lately and rode on the Carousel with no tears.  She sat on a bench with Aunt Allie and decided she would ride a fox next time.  Gavin rode on a snake so he was in heaven!  The train was also a big hit!  Gavin fell asleep on it, but he was so excited to go on that train.  Macie was a bit nervous at first, but ended up loving it!  When we left the zoo, I asked both kids what their favorite animal was.  Gavin said snakes, surprise, and Macie said the penguins and puffins.  We love the St. Louis zoo and look forward to our next visit.  Our trip was off to a great start!

All of the kids took a nap at some point which helped our day run more smoothly!
